BSc Psychology with Professional Placement(N/311/6/0118)(03/2028)(MQA/PA14287)

We are one of the few institutions in Malaysia to offer the BSc Psychology with Professional Placement, enabling students to gain a valuable 1-year work experience which enhances their employability and helps them be ‘Work Ready’.

Learn more about the School of Psychology and Clinical Sciences at the Malaysia campus or UK campus.

The programme is the same as that offered on our UK campus, following the same rigorous curriculum and high-quality academic standards.

The first year of the course will introduce you to the concepts required for British Psychological Society (BPS) qualification, including cognition, neuroscience, development, perception and research methods. You will then cover these and other subjects in far greater depth during the second year. In the final year of the degree you can develop your knowledge by exploring the areas that interest you most conduct research on that topic with exceptionally well resources.

You will be supported by our dedicated and highly-qualified academic team.

The programme incorporates a year-long placement in Year 3 that enables you to develop valuable professional skills.

Placements can take a variety of forms, including direct contact with clients (e.g. befriending, assisting in group activities, classroom assistants), work shadowing and small-scale research projects. You will have the opportunity to carry out your placement at an external organisation, to apply the skills you have developed in a practical setting, and gain work experience that will enhance your employability upon graduation.

It should be noted that the school also offers a 3-year BSc Psychology programme without a professional placement.

A degree in psychology allows you to pursue many different career paths. You will be explicitly trained in critical thinking, advanced research methods, psychological testing and assessment, complex data handling, and higher-order analytical skills. You will be able to impart valuable insights into human behaviour, and understand large data sets, which is very valuable in almost any career.

Students have the option to study further to pursue a clinical career path, or enter work directly after they graduate. Major employers of psychology graduates include, but are not limited to:

  • Hospital settings or mental health clinics
  • Educational institutions, including special needs centres
  • Human resources departments
