Provost Award - Celebrating Excellence, Leadership, and Talent
At the University of Reading Malaysia, we are committed to recognising and rewarding exceptional talent. Our Provost Scholarships are designed to honour students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, leadership potential, creativity, and accomplishments beyond the classroom. These prestigious awards reflect our commitment to nurturing future leaders who will make a positive impact within their communities and chosen fields.
Holistic Excellence Award
The Holistic Excellence Award recognises truly exceptional students who demonstrate outstanding all-round achievement, meaningful engagement within their communities, and evidence of personal growth. Students who meet the High Achiever (HAS 30%) academic criteria will be invited to apply. This award is by invitation only, and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an interview selection process.
Scholarship value: 100%
Key Selection Criteria
- Eligible for unconditional offer holders who have met HAS 30% criteria and invited for application.
- For entry into full-time International Foundation Programme OR Undergraduate courses.
- Financially deserving students will be an added advantage
- Only shortlisted candidate(s) will be invited for interview. Shortlisted candidates MUST have accepted the offer to study at UoRM and paid the RM2,000 deposit.
Application Requirements
- To submit the application form and a Personal Statement elaborating on your:
- Academic and Career Motivation
- Achievements in extra-curricular activities
- Examples of initiating new projects, leading teams, or problem-solving under pressure
- Examples of contributions to social causes, volunteering or community improvement.
- The importance of this scholarship (eg. financial need and support)
- To submit copies of Achievement Letters/ Certificates (including extra-curricular certificates)
- To submit relevant Recommendation Letter(s) (Optional)
Notes:
- Applicants will not be eligible for this scholarship if they are joining at Part 2 entry and receiving credit exemption or advanced standing.
- Students receiving the Holistic Excellence Award must maintain 70% average to continue receiving their scholarship in Year 2 and beyond. Please note that rounding up of marks is not permitted.
- Scholarship holders are required to officially accept the scholarship and complete 2 to 4 recognised tasks annually, depending on the type of scholarship. Failure to do so may result in the University withdrawing the scholarship.
Leadership Excellence Award
The Leadership Excellence Award celebrates student leaders who have made a significant impact through their ability to inspire, influence, and serve as role models within their schools or communities. Eligible candidates include those who have held distinguished positions such as Head Prefect, Club President, or Debate Champion. Applications for this award is by submission, and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an interview selection process.
Scholarship value: 50%
Key Selection Criteria
- Eligible for unconditional offer holders who have met the minimum admission requirements for the applied course.
- For entry into full-time International Foundation Programme OR Undergraduate courses.
- Open to students who held exemplary leadership positions in clubs/ societies/ institutions/ events such as Head Prefects, Club Presidents, Debate Champions, etc.
- Only shortlisted candidate(s) will be invited for interview. Shortlisted candidates MUST have accepted the offer to study at UoRM and paid the RM2,000 deposit.

The Special Talent Award acknowledges creative and innovative individuals who have demonstrated excellence and gained recognition in fields such as the arts, performing arts, technology, or innovation at state or national level. Applications for this award is by submission, and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an interview selection process.
Scholarship value: 50%
Key Selection Criteria
- Eligible for unconditional offer holders who have met the minimum admission requirements for the applied course.
- For entry into full-time International Foundation Programme OR Undergraduate courses.
- Open to students who are award winners in national level or state level talent competitions.
- Examples of Special Talents: Arts, Performing Arts, Innovation or Technology.
- Only shortlisted candidate(s) will be invited for interview. Shortlisted candidates MUST have accepted the offer to study at UoRM and paid the RM2,000 deposit.
Application Requirements
- To submit the application form and a Personal Statement elaborating on your:
- Academic and Career Motivation
- The importance of receiving this scholarship (e.g., financial need and support)
- Achievements in special talent competitions and extra-curricular activities
- To submit copies of Competition Awards/ Certificates OR photos of competition medals/ trophies.

- Applicants will not be eligible for this scholarship if they are joining at Part 2 entry and receiving credit exemption or advanced standing.
- Scholarship holders are required to officially accept the scholarship and complete 2 to 4 recognised tasks annually, depending on the type of scholarship. Failure to do so may result in the University withdrawing the scholarship.
Sports Achievement Award
The Sports Achievement Award recognises outstanding athletes who have excelled in approved sports at state or national level, demonstrating commitment, discipline, and excellence in performance. Applications for this award is by submission, and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an interview selection process.
Scholarship value: 50%
Key Selection Criteria
- Eligible for unconditional offer holders who have met the minimum admission requirements for the applied course.
- For entry into full-time International Foundation Programme OR Undergraduate courses.
- Open to students who are national level or state level athletes in approved sports.
- Approved Sports: Swimming, Badminton, Basketball, Table Tennis, Football, Volleyball, Taekwondo, Chess, Tennis, Karate, Bowling, Squash and any sports gazetted under the Sports Development Act 1997 (Act 576) in Malaysia.
- Only shortlisted candidate(s) will be invited for interview. Shortlisted candidates MUST have accepted the offer to study at UoRM and paid the RM2,000 deposit.
Application Requirements
- To submit the application form and a Personal Statement elaborating on your:
- Academic and Career Motivation
- The importance of receiving this scholarship (e.g., financial need and support)
- Achievements in sports competitions and extra-curricular activities
- To submit copies of Competition Awards/ Certificates OR photos of competition medals/ trophies
- To submit Verification Letter from the National Level/ State Level Sports Council or equivalent.
