Post Title: Associate Professor/Professor in Built Environment and Head of Section

Purpose
To lead and contribute to teaching, research, staff development, student recruitment, financial management, and external engagement of the Built Environment Section at the University of Reading Malaysia.
The Post
The University of Reading Malaysia is seeking to appoint a permanent Associate Professor/Professor to take on the role of Academic Head of Section (Built Environment) at appointment. The appointee will lead and contribute to the development and growth of the Built Environment section at the University’s campus at EduCity, in Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia.
Applicants should have a PhD in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Built Environment or a closely related discipline, and experience of teaching and/or research leadership. Applications are particularly welcome from those with teaching or research expertise in the field of Built Environment, e.g. Building Information Modelling, emerging digital technologies, sustainability, construction procurement, contract law, value management, project management, etc. Applicants should be willing to teach topics both within and outside their major field of expertise, and to contribute to the development of an exciting, innovative, and engaging teaching and research environment.
The position is available on either a Teaching Intensive or Teaching and Research basis, according to the experience of the appointee. The appointee will hold the role of Academic Head of Section for an initial period of three years, with extensions to this as agreed by the role holder, the Provost and the Head of School in the UK.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Administration
- Raise the profile of the School and support its growth and development in Malaysia and the broader region.
- As Academic Head of Section (AHOS), Provide effective leadership and line management to the academic members of the Built Environment Section.
- Oversee academic quality and accreditation matters pertaining to the section.
- Work with the Director of Student Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions to support student recruitment activities.
- Contribute to effective practical and intellectual leadership and decision-making within the Section and UoRM more widely.
- Participate in committees and working groups, as required by the Provost & CEO.
Teaching
- Contribute to undergraduate courses by preparing and delivering lectures, seminars, practical classes, etc, and through marking and project supervision.
- Show flexibility and be prepared to develop and teach material both within and outside your immediate research interests.
- Provide academic support to Academic Tutees.
- Assist with academic events throughout the year, such as Welcome Week and Summer School.
Research (if applicable)
- Continue to build a reputation as a researcher in your field, through publications in high quality international journals and winning research funding to support a research group.
- Explore opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations with colleagues within and outside the University.
- Provide leadership to support for research activities in the Section and provide supervision for doctoral students and mentoring for early career staff.
- Exploit opportunities for economic, social, and cultural impact, where possible.

The School of the Built Environment
The School of the Built Environment (SBE) is an internationally-recognised centre of excellence for teaching andresearch in the built environment. - Undertake a comprehensive literature review focusing on technology adoption within the real estate industry and its relevant domains.
- Engage in collaborative efforts with the research project team to formulate surveys and develop instruments for data collection.

Carmel Houston-Price PhD Studentship
The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences of the University of Reading Malaysia is delighted to announce one fully funded (domestic student rate) PhD Studentship, with Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) responsibilities starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting role which allows you to study for a PhD in a related subject whilst contributing to student learning by undertaking teaching activities in the Psychology Section. A monthly stipend of RM2,200 is also provided. The GTA PhD Studentship is named after Professor Carmel Houston-Price, the first Head of Psychology at the University of Reading Malaysia.
Successful candidates will join a thriving research and teaching-focused team, with excellent research facilities including EEG, eye trackers, and psychometric tests. The Psychology Section is particularly strong in the areas of basic and applied cognition, perception and vision.
