Rich In Heritage, At The Forefront of World-Class Education
The University of Reading Malaysia's state of the art campus in EduCity opened its doors in September 2015 and is a testimony to our long and proud history as a leading and pioneering university.
The University of Reading has a rich heritage dating back over 150 years and in 2016, celebrate our 90th anniversary as a university in our own right. Together with the world-leading Henley Business School, now in its 71st year, we continually invest in our facilities. We ensure too that our approaches to teaching and research are up to date and relevant. The opening of our Malaysia campus is the latest milestone in our successful history and an important part of our future.
Milestones
A few milestones which mark our course through time:
The Beginning
First Colleges open in Reading as an extension of the University of Oxford.
First International Student
The first international student registers at the college, hailing from Kenya.
Royal Charter
University of Reading created by Royal Charter – making it the only university to be awarded a charter between the two world wars.
Henley Founded
Henley Management College is founded, the first business school in the UK.
Whiteknights Campus
The Whiteknights campus is opened in Reading, UK: stretching over 300 acres of meadow, lakes and woodland, it accommodates most of the University's academic departments.
Queen's Award
University of Reading wins Queen's Award for Export Achievement, on the basis of its international student community.
Law in Malaysia
The first law programmes are delivered in collaboration with what was then Taylor's College, in Malaysia.
Henley Business School
Henley Business School (formerly Henley Management College) becomes part of the University.
Malaysia Campus Invitation
University of Reading invited by the Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia to establish its first overseas campus in Iskandar Malaysia.
Degrees in Malaysia
University of Reading Malaysia starts delivering foundation and undergraduate degrees from its teaching centre in Menara Kotaraya, Johor Bahru.
EduCity Campus Opens
UoRM's EduCity@Iskandar campus opens in Malaysia.
90th Anniversary
University of Reading celebrates 90th anniversary.
