Copyright is a set of ‘exclusive’ rights, giving creators the right to control the use of their work and the ability to earn from it. The term ‘exclusive’ in copyright law means that the copyright owner has the right to exclude others from using his or her work without first getting permission. Therefore, copyright is the exclusive right to control creative works created by the author, copyright owner and performer for a specific period governed by the Copyright Act 1987.

The objective of this workshop is to guide researchers on how to register their copyright works through Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) from filling up the relevant forms and submitting the application. The session will be touching on the key legal and ethical considerations in conducting research. This workshop would be very useful and relevant for academician, funded researchers as well as postgraduate students.
