10 PhD Scholarship Scheme
Established in conjunction with the University of Reading's 100 Year Anniversary as well as the University of Reading Malaysia's 10th anniversary at the Educity campus, this initiative aims to support promising doctoral candidates and strengthen research capacity across Schools.
About the Scheme
The UoRM PhD (Tuition-Waiver) Scholarship Scheme offers outstanding doctoral candidates full tuition-fee waivers and an annual research support allowance. As part of the award, recipients are required to contribute to activities within their School and / or the wider University community. The scheme is open twice yearly and awards up to five scholarships per cycle across the three PhD programmes offered at UoRM.

Eligibility Requirements
- Holds a formal offer of admission to a UoRM PhD programme (having passed the institutional PhD interview)
- Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, with a minimum upper second-class Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) — exceptional first-class Bachelor's holders may be considered for direct entry
- IELTS score of 7.0 or equivalent for applicants whose first language is not English (waived if recently studied / worked in an English-speaking country)
- Research proposal that aligns with School research strengths and has confirmed supervisory support
- International applicants must obtain a valid Malaysian student visa before scholarship benefits can be activated
How to Apply
Complete the PhD Scholarship Application Form (applicant's section). Also prepare an up-to-date CV, a full research proposal, and your PhD offer letter.
Submit documents to your supervisor in advance of the deadline so they can complete the supervisor support statement on the application form.
Your Head of School reviews and endorses the application (each School may endorse up to three applications per cycle). The completed package is then forwarded to the DPGRS.

Endorsed applicants are invited to a virtual interview with the PhD Scholarship Panel. The top five candidates are awarded scholarships based on combined written and interview scores.
