The School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with James Cook University Singapore. The new Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Chris Rudd, the Dean of Research Prof Dean Jerry, and the Associate Dean of Research Dr Denise Dillon visited the UoRM campus on the 28th of February 2019 to sign this exciting agreement.
University of Reading Malaysia was represented by Vice-Provost Associate Prof Dr Samantha Weston and Academic Director of Teaching and Learning and Head of Psychology, Associate Prof Dr Rachel Pye.
Under the agreement, both universities aim to provide opportunities for professional development of staff, collaborative research, and shared supervision of student’s final year thesis. Also present during the ceremony was Academic Director of Research Associate Prof Dr Mohd Faris Khamidi, academics and students from the School of Psychology.
The representatives from James Cook University Singapore were given a tour of the UoRM campus and its lab facilities after the ceremony.
Dr Denise Dillon said “Based on several years of research interchanges through invited talks, shared professional development workshops and team visits to each of our campuses, the vision behind this MOU has been developing for some time, so it’s great to see it clarified in our signing of a shared intent. We at James Cook University in Singapore look forward to maintaining the impetus through further collaborations with our UoRM neighbours to enhance the future of psychology training in the region and to make positive differences in our communities.
