Henley Business School Offers Free Business Skills Workshops for Underprivileged School Leavers and Young Adults in Malaysia

Henley Business School Malaysia has announced it will be offering free business skills workshops to unemployed or underprivileged school leavers and young adults from January 2018.

The workshops will be delivered pro bono by members of Henley Business School’s recently established Centre for Global Business Enterprise and Cloud Analytics, at its campus in EduCity in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, Malaysia, which is part of the University of Reading Malaysia.

The Head of Henley Business School Malaysia and Director of the Centre for Global Business Enterprise and Cloud Analytics, Professor Teck Yong Eng, says, “As part of our service to the community, we are committed to upskilling and educating young people who, for reasons such as lack of finance, have not had the opportunity to gain higher education or pursue their dream career such as running their own business. Our aim is to help these people to develop new business skills and guide them in planning a successful career.”

Professor Eng says there are no pre-requisites for interested applicants apart from enthusiasm and desire to succeed. He says the workshops are based on real-life business activities and/or case studies with hands-on opportunities through practical exercises, application of concepts and simulation of business scenarios.

Professor Eng says, “Through these workshops we hope to impart knowledge and new business skills including organisational context, people and organisation, strategy, financial literacy, marketing and communication. We will award our participants with a certificate once they complete the workshops. We hope by then they will have either launched their own business or gained meaningful employment.”

The free Business Skills Workshops will be hosted by the Centre for Global Business Enterprise and Cloud Analytics once a month from the end of January 2018.
