Team JAKE consisting of Avienash Vilet; Soo Kar Mun; Yeo Jia Ling and Ng Jing Wei (Edward), final year BSc Finance & Business Management students at Henley Business School Malaysia, have emerged as a regional champion - Fintech stream, of the inaugural CIMB 3D Conquest Competition.
CIMB 3D Conquest was divided into three tracks, namely DataScience, Coding and Fintech. The regional finals in the three categories saw 33 teams involving 115 participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam competing for the title of regional champion in their respective categories.
Team JAKE, which had already emerged as Malaysian National Champions in December 2018, competed against the National champions of 5 countries to win the Regional Crown. The winning team pockets USD8000 and a trip to Silicon Valley!
Team JAKE, mentored by Assoc Prof Nafis Alam of Henley Business School, developed the idea of an E-wallet for the 13-24 age group to build financial literacy and learn about the importance of saving and investing for the future.
The CIMB 3D Conquest competition was supported by a host of leading government and private entities such as MDEC, JPT, Disruptive Tech ASEAN, Malaysian Airlines, SAS and Cloudera among others. The competition began on Sept 18 last year with 715 teams and over 2,500 participants from 200 universities across ASEAN. A shortlist of 213 teams emerged from seven countries at the country level finals held in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
