What is the Financial Dealing Room Experience?
Henley Business School at the University of Reading Malaysia is one of a handful of institutions with a state-of-the-art Financial Dealing room. The Financial Dealing room experience is modelled after Henley’s ICMA Centre on the UK campus named after The International Capital Market Association (ICMA). The ICMA Centre was Europe’s first collaboration between the securities industry and academia and remains a pioneer in securities education and research.

The Financial Dealing room we have on campus is equipped with ICTrader, one of the most sophisticated trading simulation systems. ICTrader offers advanced tools for trading practice and is simulated to trade equity, foreign currency and derivatives in the US and UK markets.
The Financial Dealing room provides students with the distinct experience of working at a trading desk. Students face the same challenges as a securities trader, working under pressure in volatile market conditions where there may be sudden and sharp movements in share price. Students not only develop their analytical skills, but also their ability to think quickly, make decisions, be flexible and remain professional and calm under pressure.
In short, the Financial Dealing Room experience enables students to apply investment theories, concepts and principles they learn in class to real-world scenarios. The practical training helps students understand the role of a professional trader, how markets are structured, how investors bring their orders to a market and how dealers make the market.
