‘Research Workshop 1: Research Question and Hypothesis’

The Overview

This workshop aims to provide some basic understanding on:

  • the importance of research question
  • how to differentiate a good or poorly written research question
  • writing a research hypothesis
  • the differences between research and statistical hypothesis

This workshop is suitable for all early stage PhD candidates who are preparing (or going to) their research proposal.

The Speaker

Dr Kok Lun PANG (School of Pharmacy)


Dr Kok Lun Pang was awarded a PhD in Biomedical science by the National University of Malaysia (UKM) last year. His research interests include the fundamental studies of cellular biology, cell signaling, apoptosis and autophagy. He also wishes to explore the potential of novel bioactive compounds as anticancer agent. He has published 5 research publication and co-authored 1 book chapter so far. In relevant to this workshop, he got almost 2 years teaching experiences in Biostatistics for diploma and degree students.

  • This workshop is restricted to University of Reading staff and student.
