Purpose of workshop, Who it is for, What’s involved

Teaching and Research have always been perceived as two separate and distinct academic activities. The Orange Playbook published by MOHE identifies them as two of four distinct tracks in academic career pathway, where the notion is one develops one’s career to excel in one of the four tracks. Teaching Research Nexus (TRN) is presented as a mechanism to integrate research and teaching to develop high impact educational practices (HIEP). Participants will be introduced to the TRN Matrix for developing four different types of curriculum: Research-led, Research-oriented, Research-tutored, and Research-based. The two dimensions are Students role (Audience vs as Participants), and Research Focus (Content vs Research processes & problems). Participants that would benefit include lecturers and researchers, who will learn how they can begin to integrate research into the courses that they teach.
