The inaugural EduCity Educator's Conference 2018 (EEC 2018) was held at Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour on 7 September 2018. The event was jointly organised by University of Reading Malaysia, Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia and University of Southampton Malaysia, and is themed Innovation and Research. The conference hopes to inspire all EduCity institutions and other local universities to build collaboration in teaching and learning and education research. The programme ambitiously aims to introduce delegates to new approaches in teaching and learning, as well as equipping delegates with the tools needed to perform world-class research on teaching and learning approaches

The conference is honoured to have Y.Bhg Datin Paduka Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir, Director General of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education Malaysia, as VIP and keynote speaker of the event. On the future plans for the conference and similar academic driven platforms, Dr Sam Weston from University of Reading Malaysia stated, “University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) is honoured to be part of the organizing committee of EEC 2018, we hope this event will kick-start more events related to education and teaching & learning in the future; we can see this initiative is aligned with EduCity’s objective to promote Malaysia as a centre of educational excellence in the world.”
