Sr Dr. Maizon Hashim, CQS - Associate Professor | Lecturer in Built Environment
Dr. Maizon is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a Consultant Quantity Surveyor with the Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia (BQSM). She is a distinguished Fellow of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolutions (AIADR). Maizon is also a registered Consultant Quantity Surveyor with the Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia and an accredited Adjudicator with the Asian International Arbitration Centre, Malaysia. She holds a Ph.D. in Project Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management from Herriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and a Professional Diploma in Building Economics from Westminster University (formerly known as Polytechnic of Central London.
Maizon has over 20 years of experience working as a Consultant Quantity Surveyor in a consultancy firm. With 42 years of academic experience, Maizon has served as a lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), where she has guided and mentored numerous students at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels in the fields of Quantity Surveying, Construction Contract Management and Project Management. For the past 7 years, she has been lecturing at the University of Reading, Malaysia. Maizon was appointed as an accreditation panel member by the Board of Quantity Surveyors, Malaysia to examine the Quantity Surveying program offered by both local and international universities, including Australia and the UK. The role involves assessing and ensuring that these programs meet the required standards and criteria for quality education in the field of Quantity Surveying. Additionally, Maizon has served as an external examiner for Doctoral candidates, providing independent evaluations of their research work. Her experience includes appointments as an external examiner for institutions both locally and in New Zealand, where she has contributed to upholding the academic rigor and integrity of doctoral-level studies.
She has conducted extensive research in procurement methods, construction contract management, and project management. Her contributions to these fields have been recognized both nationally and internationally. In recognition of her achievements, she was awarded the Elite Quantity Surveyor Award by the Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia. She continues to contribute to the fields of Quantity Surveying and Project Management through her academic and professional work, leveraging her extensive experience and knowledge to shape future professionals.
