Dr Kek Hong Yee | Lecturer in Built Environment
Dr. Kek Hong Yee is a Lecturer in the School of Built Environment at the University of Reading Malaysia. She holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and a first-class honours degree in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, where she was awarded the Chancellor’s Award. Her research focuses on improving indoor air quality, thermal comfort, and infection control through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling, IoT-enabled monitoring systems, and innovative ventilation strategies.
She has published extensively in high-impact Q1 journals, including Building and Environment, Energy and Buildings, and Environmental Research. Her broader research interests include airborne microplastics, sustainable construction materials, and waste-to-wealth technologies. Dr. Kek also brings industry experience from Pamir Development Sdn. Bhd., where she contributed to project coordination, and academic experience as a Visiting Lecturer at UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur, where she taught research methodology and supervised postgraduate research projects.
At UoRM, Dr. Kek contributes to curriculum development, teaches modules on construction technology, construction science, building pathology, and actively mentors students in research projects. She is a registered Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and a Graduate Technologist with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), and she regularly serves as a reviewer for leading journals in the built environment and energy domains.
