Purpose of workshop/who it is for/what’s involved:

To produce a good quality research proposal that complies to the requirements set-up by the expert panels during the evaluation process in order to secure grant (MoE – FRGS) successfully. This is intended to early career researchers who intend to conduct basic academic research that aims to develop new theory(ies), concept(s), principle(s) and idea(s). This workshop will be interactive and involved hands-on exercises.

Biography

Dr Mohd Faris Khamidi (SBE - ADR)

Faris’s research interests include Digital Design and Construction, Building Information Modelling; Green Building and Sustainable Construction. Since 2007, he has successfully secured external research grant amounting to RM4.5 million from MoHE, MoE, MOSTI, PETRONAS and AKEPT; in particular completion of three Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS of MoE) in 2011, 2010 and 2007. He is now involved in two on-going FRGS research grants (UMP and UoRM) as Co-PI.

   

Dr Mohd-Pisal Zainal (HenleyBS – Chair of MyRA Internal Auditors)

Pisal’sresearch interests are in the area of International Finance, International Trade, Monetary Economics, Islamic Capital Markets, Islamic Financial Markets and Institutions & financial economics. His work has been published in the Journal of Forecasting and the International Journal of Economics & Management. He has also contributed to chapters in books published by John Wiley & Sons, and ICD & Thomson Reuters, amongst others.

   

Dr Chai Chang Sa’ar (SBE – recipient of FRGS Cycle 2018-1)

Chai’s research interest encompasses construction project management; digital construction; Building Information Modelling and Building Information Management. Since he joined academia, he has successfully secured several research grants from NaPREC, KEJORA, Jcorp and Johor State MB Office. Recently, he has successfully secured Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) 2018 as the Principal Investigator and research collaborator for University of Malaya, UniversitiTeknologi Malaysia and UniversitiTun Hussein Onn Malaysia.

   

Dr Liew Kok Fui (Pharmacy - recipient of FRGS Cycle 2018-1)

Kok Fui’s research interests include phytochemicals, drug-like synthetic molecules and molecular docking of small drug molecules as neuroprotective and anticancer agents. He is also interested in exploring the pharmacokinetics of bioactive compounds particularly in the ability to permeate the blood-brain barrier and drug metabolism in the liver. Recently, he has successfully secured an external funding from MOE under the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) 2018 as the Principal Investigator in research collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia.
