Abstract

Intellectual Property (IP) plays a vital part in research and covers a variety of areas such as copyright, patents, plant breeding, software and trademarks. IP rights help protect creations of the mind that include inventions, literary or artistic work, images, symbols, etc. If you create a product, publish a book, or find a new drug, intellectual property rights ensure that you benefit from your work. These rights protect your creation or work from unfair use by others.

Thus, this session will provide an overview of IP rights with the focus on patents, copyright, confidentiality, collaboration and licensing from the Malaysian legal perspective as well as University’s IP policy.
