The University of Reading Malaysia has a Safety and Health Services section which is dedicated to reducing injuries, accidents and ill-health arising and in ensuring compliance with legislation. It provides high quality information and training to staff and supports the management of safety and health in all the University's activities.

If you hear the fire alarm, follow the instructions and leave the building by the nearest exit. If you discover a fire, inform a member of staff and leave the building immediately. Fire drills will be held from time to time. All students and staff are required to meet at the Assembly Points and wait for further instructions. Emergency routes and maps can be found at all staircase walls.

If you require emergency assistance at any time, please alert a member of staff. Various members of staff from each section are First Aid trained and will be able to help.

If a registered medical doctor has certified that you have contracted an infectious or contagious disease, you must immediately notify your academic tutor or Student Services via phone or email. You will not be permitted to attend any classes until you have submitted to us written advice from a registered medical doctor, with consent for you to do so.

Under Malaysian law, smoking is prohibited in all air-conditioned public buildings. The consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited on campus. A designated smoking area is located at the Lower Ground Floor (entrance from South Block).

Earphones
If wearing earphones, please be cautious when crossing roads and consider your surroundings.

Be considerate
Wherever you go, be conscious of your surroundings and think about what is going on around you. Look out for cars, bikes and people.

Smoking/vaping
Do not smoke or vape on campus. Please be aware that vaping is banned in the state of Johor.

If you are driving, please keep to the speed limit, which is 30kph on campus. Lock your vehicles before leaving them.

Or a pedestrian?
Watch out for vehicles, in particular when you are crossing roads. Be aware there may be cars coming up behind you.
