The University of Reading Malaysia Law Society is the sole student-led representative body for law students at the University of Reading Malaysia. We aim to enrich the academic, professional and student experience of our members by creating opportunities to learn, connect and grow beyond the classroom.
Through professional development, mooting and advocacy, career opportunities, competitions, social events and industry engagement, we connect students with the wider legal profession and provide a platform for them to develop the skills, networks and confidence needed for a successful career in law.
We work closely with legal practitioners, law firms, professional organisations, alumni and university partners to bring meaningful opportunities to our members while fostering a strong and inclusive law student community.

Re Lex : Reading Law, Redefined is the Law Society's flagship project: an architecture that connects everything the Society does to help students study, practise and enjoy law. It is a structured path through the Society, so you can start wherever you are and build from there.
Re for Reading. Lex for law. Read it as Re-Lex and it means renewal and re-engagement with the law. Read it aloud and it echoes "relax". We take the law seriously, but joining the Society shouldn't be intimidating.

Our member engagement series, with social and networking events. This is where most members begin.
An annual social event organised by the Law Society, bringing law students together through a series of interactive games, team activities, and opportunities to connect beyond the classroom.
Bringing together law students and legal professionals from across Malaysia, the Malaysian Law Games 2026 features a range of sporting events, including football, badminton and netball. Organised by the UM Law Society, the event provides a platform for participants to connect, build friendships and foster camaraderie through sports.

Competitive advocacy training and entry into national and international moot competitions.
An annual mooting competition that challenges students to apply their legal knowledge through research, written submissions, and oral advocacy while developing practical skills essential for a career in law within a realistic legal setting.

Workshops, talks and interviews with practitioners, academics and alumni.
A month-long series of events focused on legal advocacy and practical skill development, providing students with opportunities to participate in advocacy training, interactive sessions, and engagement with legal practitioners.
A practitioner interview series that provides students with insights into different areas of legal practice, career pathways, and the real-world application of legal knowledge beyond the classroom.
