Dr Sr Anuar Alias is a Professor in Property Development at the Department of Real Estate, Faculty of Built Environment, University of Malaya. Prior to joining University Malaya, he served at Valuation and Property Services Department, Ministry of Finance for 11 years. Dr Anuar served as a Board Member of the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers Malaysia (BoVAEP), Member of the Royal Institute of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) since 1997, as well as Member of Malaysian Institute of Property and Facilities Management (MIPFM).
Dr Anuar is an Expert Panelist for the National Real Estate Research Coordinator (NAPREC) under the Ministry of Finance since 2008. He has served in numerous professional capacities as the Chairman of Accreditation and Certification Committee (ACC); Member of Test of Professional Competency (TPC) and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of BoVAEP; and an established reviewer for book and various journals, locally and internationally. He is an External Examiner for the Master of Real Estate program at the University of Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and for the Bachelor in Real Estate program at the Tunku Abdul Rahman University College and has been appointed as a visiting professor at Nanjing University, Nanjing Jinling University College and Hohai University in China.
Dr Anuar served as the Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment from 10 August 2020 until 31 December 2022. Prior to becoming a Dean, he served as the Deputy Dean (Undergraduate) in the year 2004 to 2006, followed by appointment in 2014 to 2019 due to his outstanding work ethics. Dr Anuar’s area of expertise include Valuation (particularly in Rating, Taxation and Land Acquisition), Property Management and Project Management, as well as Property Development and Environment. Dr Anuar was a Property Consultant with Perak Corporation Berhad (PCB) from 2019 to 2020 conducting Feasibility Study in tourism sectors. After he retired from Universiti Malaya, he joined the Department of Building and Property, Faculty of Accountancy and Management, UTAR as a Contract Professor. Dr Anuar published 65 papers in ISI, Scopus indexed journals and other refereed journals, books, and with more than 50 conference proceedings
