Abstract
Is music truly the shorthand of emotion? If so, how, and why should we care? This talk discusses these prospects by integrating research from brain injury, consciousness, emotion & music.

Biography
Dr. Choy is interested in developing non-verbal measures of consciousness and emotion using music and event-related potentials (ERPs). She has worked with brain injured patients in this capacity, and is intrigued with its applicability to other communicative impaired populations (e.g. alexithymia, autism).
