BSc Construction Management(N/582/6/0015)

Get BIM ready and become an expert in the planning and programming of operations in the digital construction system.

This course offers a great combination of academic excellence and practical expertise as well as a world-class opportunity to study flexibly for a degree that is recognised by professional bodies internationally, including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

This programme prepares you for a successful career in construction management. Not only does it offer you the opportunity to explore a range of construction-related disciplines prior to specialising in the final year but you will be able to transfer onto other programmes, such as Quantity Surveying or Construction Management at the end of your second year if you wish to do so. A particular emphasis is placed on transferable skills, and University of Reading graduates frequently progress into management roles within contracting firms, taking responsibility for all aspects of project management.

During your first two years you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the disciplines which underpin construction management and the surveying professions. We place a strong focus on employability and you will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals throughout the course as well as taking up a placement during the term break between your second and final years, for which you will gain credits that contribute towards your degree.

In the final year of the BSc Construction Management course you will develop the technical knowledge and practical skills needed for the management of construction operations. You will also complete a dissertation on a research topic of your choice and a construction management project, in which you will plan the construction operations for a building project.
