Post Title: Research Assistant
Purpose
We are seeking applications for the position of Research Assistant to contribute to an exciting and timely research project titled "Technology Readiness of Real Estate Practitioners Towards IR 4.0." as part of the National Real Estate Research and Development Grant Scheme (NAPREC). The project aims to assess the adoption and readiness of real estate professionals for the technological transformations associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0). The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting research activities, data collection, and analysis to advance our understanding of technology adoption in the real estate sector.
The School of the Built Environment
The School of the Built Environment (SBE) is an internationally-recognised centre of excellence for teaching andresearch in the built environment. Main duties and responsibilities
- Undertake a comprehensive literature review focusing on technology adoption within the real estate industry and its relevant domains.
- Engage in collaborative efforts with the research project team to formulate surveys and develop instruments for data collection.
- Conduct thorough analysis of research data, synthesizing key insights, and summarise of findings for inclusion in research publications.
- Foster close collaboration with the research project team and project leader to guarantee the timely attainment of project milestones.

To deliver teaching to undergraduate psychology students at the University of Reading Malaysia
The post
The University of Reading Malaysia is seeking to appoint a permanent Lecturer to support the delivery of the BSc Psychology programme to students at the University’s campus at EduCity, in Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia. Successful candidates will have, or be close to completing, a PhD in Psychology or a closely-related discipline, or relevant professional qualification. They should also demonstrate teaching experience in a core area of psychology, and the ability to carry out teaching and administrative duties to a high standard, commensurate with their stage of career. Applications are particularly welcome from those with specialism in one of the British Psychological Society (BPS) core areas: cognition, biopsychology, development, social psychology, individual differences or research methods. Successful applicants will be willing to teach topics both within and outside their major field of expertise, and able to contribute to the development of an exciting, innovative and engaging teaching environment.
The BSc Psychology programmes
The University of Reading’s BSc Psychology programme is the flagship programme offered by the School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences in the UK, attracting around 300 students per year. The programme covers all the areas required for BPS accreditation in the first two years of study, allowing students to pursue topics of particular interest in their final year through a range of optional specialist modules. The programme is acclaimed for its ‘research-led’ approach to teaching – lectures are structured around the latest research findings, and students achieve a high-level of competence in running their own empirical studies. Our best students win national awards for their final-year projects and publish these in peer-reviewed journals. The BSc Psychology programme in Malaysia, which welcomed its first cohort of students in 2015, was awarded its own accreditation by the BPS and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency. The programme replicates the programme delivered at our parent campus in terms of its aims, learning outcomes, structure and content, and our admissions criteria and assessment standards mirror those applied in the UK. We have recently introduced a four-year version, BSc Psychology with Professional Placement, which offers students an opportunity to develop their psychological knowledge in a workplace setting through a year-long work placement. Lecturing staff are expected to adapt teaching materials to ensure that the content suits the geographical and cultural context of South East Asia, but also have the opportunity to develop new materials in line with their own interests and areas of expertise and to contribute to module and curriculum development.

Carmel Houston-Price PhD Studentship
The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences of the University of Reading Malaysia is delighted to announce one fully funded (domestic student rate) PhD Studentship, with Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) responsibilities starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting role which allows you to study for a PhD in a related subject whilst contributing to student learning by undertaking teaching activities in the Psychology Section. A monthly stipend of RM2,200 is also provided. The GTA PhD Studentship is named after Professor Carmel Houston-Price, the first Head of Psychology at the University of Reading Malaysia.
Successful candidates will join a thriving research and teaching-focused team, with excellent research facilities including EEG, eye trackers, and psychometric tests. The Psychology Section is particularly strong in the areas of basic and applied cognition, perception, vision, and mental health.

Examination Invigilators
Invigilators are required to ensure that the examination timetable runs smoothly and that UoRM examination procedures are always strictly adhered to, and in all venues.
Invigilators are required from January to August each year. Invigilators work for us on a sessional basis and are paid RM40/hour.
Who is this role suitable for?
The post is ideal for Postgraduate (PhD) students, researchers and those with experience in the educator sector outside of University of Reading Malaysia. The ability to work flexible hours, on a sessional basis, is important.
Main duties
* Assisting with setting up and closing down exam venues and checking all facilities before and during the examination session
* Assisting candidates at the start and end of exams, issuing clear and precise instructions, checking candidate identities and reporting exam absentees.
*Invigilating in accordance with University procedures and maintaining examination conditions at all times. Watching out for potential examination irregularities (i.e. potential cheating referred to as ‘academic misconduct) and to report anything untoward to the Chief Invigilator
*Escort candidates from the exam venue during the exam as required (for example for toilet visits), and supervise candidates whilst they are outside the exam venue.
*Support candidates taken ill (including exhibiting mental health difficulties) to receive appropriate medical attention/support in accordance with procedures outlined in the Invigilator Handbook.
* Such other duties as the Examinations Officer or the Chief Invigilator may from time to time assign related to the role.

How many hours a week do you anticipate this role to be and what availability is required?
Invigilators engaged for full day or morning only duties must be ready to begin invigilating by 8.25am at the latest.
Those assigned to afternoon duties must be in post by 1.25pm at the latest.
UoRM examinations vary in length from 1 hour to 3.5 hours, so finishing times will vary accordingly.
Most examinations are completed by 6pm although on some occasions it may be necessary to work beyond this.
Invigilators will be required to be on duty until all scripts have been collected and the Chief Invigilator gives permission to leave. Invigilators engaged for the whole day will have lunchtime breaks, the times for which will be arranged by the Chief Invigilator.
The majority of UoRM examinations are held Monday – Thursday. No examinations are held on Sundays or Bank Holidays
