Learn From The Best With Leading Academics and Professionals

If you wish to deepen your academic understanding of the Real Estate sector and enhance your career prospects while remaining in employment, then our flexible Real Estate programme is the ideal choice for you.

The MSc Real Estate Flexible programme offers you the opportunity to improve your understanding of the real estate industry by relating your practical knowledge to the theoretical underpinnings. It is designed to draw on your work experience and provide a framework for rigorous analysis of the functioning of the industry to enable you to fully understand and be able to undertake real estate appraisals.

A suite of modules provides the core knowledge in areas such as investment appraisal, economics, corporate finance, financial institutions and law. You can then select from a number of optional modules to broaden the skills in your particular areas of interest.

Similar to corporate training methods, this course is based around relatively short periods of intensive study which are then reinforced by your experience in practice and web-based learning materials. You will attend the University for short blocks of study when there are opportunities to experience a range of learning methods. You are encouraged to contribute your own knowledge and experience in order to extend the learning opportunities.

When I joined Bouwfonds REIM in the Netherlands, I knew very little about real estate private equity. For this reason, and with the full support of my employer, I decided to undertake a postgraduate degree in real estate. I chose Reading because the University is well recognized by industry professionals as a centre of excellence for real estate research and education in Europe. In additional the flexibility and modular structure of the programme were ideal for my situation as I was able to adapt the speed of the course according to my workload. It was also convenient to fly from continental Europe for a few days rather than following a weekend or evening course. I truly enjoyed attending class and also learned a lot while completing individual assignments at home.

I conducted extensive research to identify schools that concentrate on real estate and planning, leading to my decision to attend Reading. Based on the option to attend part–time, the in–depth curriculum offered, coupled with their ranking as an internationally recognized and reputable institution for real estate, this was, without question, the ideal situation for me.

The flexibility of the programme is structured to accommodate work–life schedules. The curriculum is designed to support individual needs in terms of study and work obligations with nearly no time constraints for completing the Master's course.

The academic and professional level of the presenters clearly justifies the excellent reputation the School of Real Estate and Planning enjoys. During my time in Reading I have gained the professional knowledge I was expecting to receive with my application, enhanced by rich experiences from an international set up and a very enjoyable working environment.
